Necy Sumait is the Chief of the Renewable Energy Section for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Pacific Region. She is responsible for managing the leasing program for offshore wind and marine hydrokinetic energy for federal waters off California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. Prior to BOEM, Ms. Sumait was employed in the private sector to provide management and development of energy projects from inception through financial closing, commissioning and operations. She played major roles in the successful development of several solar and natural gas power plant projects and commercialization of biomass conversion technologies in the U.S. and overseas. Ms. Sumait has a M.B.A from Illinois Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Biology from DePaul University.
